For the first time, we’re being questioned. Masculinity is under the microscope, and many men aren’t quite sure how to handle it. As historical “winners,” we aren’t accustomed to reviewing our own game footage. Still, we’re learning a lot about the social forces that drive male behavior.

As specialists in a cosmetic procedure for men, we understand that men are hesitant to talk about hair restoration and other cosmetic procedures. Nonetheless, we are undergoing more procedures than ever before. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in fact, the number of men undergoing cosmetic procedures has jumped more than 325 percent since they began keeping track, and it’s still climbing.

So, why the hesitation?

The Invisible Hype Machine

When you think of the ideal man, this formless cloud of images pops into your head. You weren’t born with it – it was formed with socialization. Thousands of TV commercials, movies, conversations with friends and other experiences have formed this cloud for you. The important question is this: What do you see?

Many of us see a strong, stoic, athletic warrior. He can bench 250, build a shed, drive anything with wheels, and get any woman he wants. He doesn’t pose for selfies; he reluctantly holds his girlfriend’s purse. He doesn’t talk about his feelings because he can handle anything. This wooden, stoic image of men prevents some of us from considering hair restoration surgery or talking about it. Thankfully, as we roll into the 2020s, the winds of change are blowing (and soon, your luscious locks with it!).

Healthy Changes Ahead

Thankfully, those walls are breaking down, and the taboos with them. Hair restoration is faster and easier, and it doesn’t leave unsightly scars behind. Men are turning to cosmetic procedures in record form, now accounting for more than 10% of all cosmetic procedures in the US according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Our culture is slowly shifting to allow men to express themselves more. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to care about how you look. Most importantly, it’s okay to express your feelings to others. If you want to improve yourself with a hair restoration procedure. do it unapologetically. When you’re ready to embrace that change, we’ll be ready to get you there.
